PETER PAN:

THE BOY WHO HATED MOTHERS

by Michael Lluberes

Based on "Peter and Wendy" by J.M. Barrie

Directed by Michael Matthews

April 20-June 2

2nd Stage Theatre

6500 Santa Monica Blvd.

This radically fresh retelling of the JM Barrie classic is a theatrical event not to be missed. Exploring the original ideas and inspirations behind this iconic fantasy, Peter Pan: The Boy Who Hated Mothers is a dark new retelling of the story of the boy who wouldn’t grow up. This is Peter Pan as you have never seen it before but how it was always meant to be told.

“this charming production has stripped off the Disney and Broadway varnishes to restore Barrie's unique voice and his great subject …fresh and utterly persuasive…delicate, deeply human portrayals."

--LA Times

“Joyful theatricality turn this play into something not to be missed….  And it’s told with enormous brio, style, and good will."

--Bob Verini, ARTS IN LA

“An enchanting—and even moving—theatrical piece. You immediately realize you're not in a Disney movie… a gritty Neverland you've never seen before”

If we didn’t tell you the plays were by teenagers, you wouldn’t know. The 12 best plays in the nation are chosen by a panel of theatre professionals from submissions by teenage playwrights. Winning writers are next assigned a mentor and then a professional director who guide their scripts to the stage.  We then cast the plays with some of Hollywood’s hottest award-winning actors and present the work in a month-long Festival. You have to see it to believe it!
